The Mandela Effect.

Ever since I first heard of The Mandela Effect, I have been fascinated by it. I just love these sorts of concepts. For those who don’t know, let me explain. The Mandela Effect is an umbrella term that refers to ‘an alternate history’, that is, a past as we remember it which is different to the history books.

It has become known as The Mandela Effect because there are literally thousands of people who ‘remember an alternate past’. A past in which Nelson Mandela died in prison decades ago. The interesting thing is that thousands of people of all kinds, from all over the globe, with nothing in common, all have freakishly similar memories. Some of the exact details may vary, however the basic theme that all these people remember seems to be that Nelson Mandela died in prison and his subsequent funeral was a global news story that was broadcast on TV across the world. Person after person swear that they can “REMEMBER” watching his funeral on TV decades ago.

And as we’ve said, The Mandela Effect is just an umbrella term that refers to any time that people have a “memory” which is different to the history books. This phenomenon happens surprisingly more frequently than you may think. People from all over the world report remembering alternate histories.

How can so many unconnected people, with nothing in common, all have such eerily similar vivid memories that they swear they can remember happening? The most common explanation for this is that we live in Parallel Universes which are “almost” identical to our Universe but with some subtle differences. The prevailing theory is that like a master chess player who can flawlessly play multiple games at the same time, we all have a “higher self” that is living simultaneously in a hundred, a thousand or even millions or billions of Parallel Universes simultaneously. Your higher self is being “YOU” in these Parallel Universes simultaneously.

We don’t yet understand from a scientific point of view how this all happens, but given that there is essentially only 1 YOU, which is really your higher self, then the true YOU (your higher self) is interacting with ALL of these Parallel Universes simultaneously.

The 2 most feasible scenarios are either that the memory you have is actually a ‘memory’ that “YOU” (being your higher self) experienced in another Parallel Universe which has somehow crossed over and been mixed with all your memories from this world, OR the YOU that is in this world was actually once in that other Universe experiencing those very events first hand. Either way, either you, or a memory, seems to have been somehow swapped between these Parallel Universes. Because virtually everything else in this Parallel Universe was the same, you didn’t notice the swap. This may seem hard to imagine so perhaps an easier way of explaining it is to say that one way or another, your awareness is switching between these Parallel Universes.

Some people worry that if there are other “versions” of them in other worlds, does that detract from their own feeling of individuality? Well absolutely NOT. There will always only ever be 1 YOU. Just like the example we used previously of the chess player, it’s the same person who is playing multiple games, and what they do in each situation will be different depending on what is happening in that game. It’s the same with Parallel Universes, there is only ever 1 YOU. The you that exists in another world is the exact same person that you are now, the only difference is awareness.

So when we talk about another version of YOU being in a Parallel Universe, we’re not talking about a completely different person who is “like” you, we’re really talking about YOU! The real you is your higher self, YOU just happen to exist in these alternate worlds simultaneously. If you wonder how the “YOU” in another world would act, just ask yourself how would you act in that situation, because guess what, it IS YOU who is in that situation, you just don’t have the awareness of it in this world. Some have even hypothesised that given the nature of reality is more conceptual that physical, we (our higher selves) may actually be creating these Parallel Universes so as to “try” different experiences.

Just like the movie The Matrix where Nero has to choose between a Blue Pill or Red Pill, we may choose the Blue Pill in this life but our higher selves wonders what would have happened if we had of chosen the Red Pill and so we create a Parallel Universe in which you choose the Red Pill. That’s just 2 examples, think of how many things happen every day that you’ve ever wondered what would have happened if you’d done something else… When you multiply how many of these situations you experience every day, and how many days you have in a lifetime, and how many different possibilities that would lead to, and how many different possibilities each one of those possibilities could lead to, it’s easy to see how you could be living simultaneously in literally millions or billions of different Parallel Universes. Little wonder then why we occasionally have some overlap of awareness from one reality to another.

The difference that our choices make can be insignificant in some cases and life changing in others. That’s why there will be some alternate realities which create The Mandela Effect, where everything in that alternate past will be so precisely similar to this reality that you would never notice the swap except when you start noticing these ‘Mandela Effect’ type moments.

But then it must also be true that there would be other alternate realities which are nothing like your present life. Let’s face it, if there were a billion other Universes out there that were just the same as our world, then there would be a billion different versions of YOU. So there would be a Universe exactly the same as ours, but in which you are a rock star, a Universe in which you are an accountant, a talented artist, a toilet cleaner and an undertaker! But there would also be a Universe which is nothing like ours, a Universe in which you were born 500 years ago, born a different sex, on another planet, and anything else that we can imagine. With so many possibilities, virtually anything that you could ever imagine doing in your wildest dreams, there is already a world in which YOU are doing just that right now!

That begs the question, if this is true then why is it that we only seem to have these Mandela Effect moments. Would it not be just as likely that you could end up with awareness from another Parallel Universe in which you are a Rock Star, or in which you were born 500 years ago? Let’s face it, if you suddenly woke up one morning in a huge mansion and discovered that you were a Rock Star, or woke up in a medieval village 500 years in the past, you would certainly notice the difference right?

Well I believe personally that if it is possible for us to have these overlaps of reality from other Parallel Universes which create Mandela Effects, then it must be equally likely that we would, from time to time, have the more non-subtle overlaps in which everything would be different. So I think it is probably naïve to assume that this is not happening, it’s just that we don’t consciously become aware of it in this life. Why is that the case? Well, I think because the change is SOOOO great that if we did experience these alternate realities then our conscious brains in this life would just interpret them as being dreams, or may be so confused by them that it simply filters them from our conscious awareness so that we’re not even consciously aware in this life that they are happening. Have you ever had a dream in which you were a Rock Star or a Pilot or some other thing? It may not have been a dream!

It got me to thinking about the whole concept of being able to “swap” between Parallel Universes. Would it be possible to access knowledge from these other Universes to take advantage of that in this world? Well, I believe that the answer is YES!

So what we must do is to bypass the conscious part of the brain and get into the awareness from our higher selves. When we do have these Mandela Effect type moments, it’s an accidental swap in awareness, not something that we’ve consciously been able to do. I don’t know of anyone who can consciously swap between Parallel Universes on demand. So when we consciously ask ourselves how to access knowledge from another Parallel Universe, we’ll always fail. It got me to thinking that if we ARE able to gain knowledge from these alternate realities then the answers we seek would not come to us consciously but rather as a ‘Gut Instinct’ or ‘Intuition’. Something that would come not from the conscious part of the brain but rather from our higher selves.

So if we are to use this, then the way to do it is to send a message out into the Universe asking what we want to know and then tune in to our intuition. Put the conscious brain on mute and listen in carefully to what our intuition is telling us.

AND (this is really important) when we do get these intuitions, we MUST MUST MUST allow them time to fully develop and not to try and consciously interpret them because we’ll lose the message if we do that.

And when you put a question out there to the Universe, don’t expect an answer right away, although that can happen sometimes. But put your question out there with the expectation that the answer will come to you at just the precise time you need it. Then be open and listening to your intuition so that you can hear the answer when it comes.

So my challenge for you is to ask yourself. Is there something that your struggling with right now that a ‘different’ YOU would perhaps be able to do. Maybe you work in sales and you want to make more sales. Well there must surely be a Parallel Universe in which you are the No 1 for sales in your company! Ask yourself what would ‘YOU’ from that reality do to get sales? Now remember it’s important to put your question out there and then listen to your intuition for the reply. Don’t try and “figure out” what you might do in another life because if you’re trying to figure stuff out then it will be your conscious mind that is coming up with the answers and not your higher self.
